Windows Error Reporting Service (WerSvc) Defaults in Windows 8
Allows errors to be reported when programs stop working or responding and allows existing solutions to be delivered. Also allows logs to be generated for diagnostic and repair services. If this service is stopped, error reporting might not work correctly and results of diagnostic services and repairs might not be displayed.

Default Behavior
The Windows Error Reporting Service is a Win32 program that can be started by the Service Controller and that obeys the service control protocol. In Windows 8 it will not be started until the user starts it. When the Windows Error Reporting Service is started, it runs as localSystem in its own process of svchost.exe. If Windows Error Reporting Service fails to load or initialize, Windows 8 startup proceeds. The error details should be added to Event Log without notifying the user.
Restore Default Startup Configuration of Windows Error Reporting Service
1. Run the Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Copy the command below, paste it into the command window and press ENTER:
sc config WerSvc start= demand
3. Close the command window and restart the computer.
The WerSvc service is using the WerSvc.dll file that is located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory. If the file is removed or corrupted, read this article to restore its original version from Windows 8 installation media.
