VMBusHID Service Defaults in Windows 7
Microsoft VMBus HID Miniport by Microsoft Corporation.
The VMBusHID service does not exist in:
- Windows 7 Starter
- Windows 7 Home Basic
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- Windows 7 Starter SP1
- Windows 7 Home Basic SP1
- Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Default Behavior
VMBusHID is a kernel device driver. In Windows 7 it won't be started if the user doesn't start it. If VMBusHID fails to load or initialize, Windows 7 startup continues without error messages. The failure details are being written into Event Log.
Restore Default Startup Configuration of VMBusHID
1. Run the Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Copy the command below, paste it into the command window and press ENTER:
sc config VMBusHID start= demand
3. Close the command window and restart the computer.
The VMBusHID service is using the VMBusHID.sys file that is located in the C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS directory. If the file is removed or corrupted, read this article to restore its original version from Windows 7 installation media.
