Default Behavior

RDPCDD is a kernel device driver. In Windows XP it is starting right at Kernel initialization. If the RDPCDD fails to load or initialize, Windows XP start up proceeds without error messages, but information about the failure is being written into Event Log.

Restore Default Startup Configuration for RDPCDD

1. Run the Command Prompt.

2. Copy the commands below, paste them into the command window and press ENTER:

sc config RDPCDD start= system
sc start RDPCDD

3. Close the command window and restart the computer.

The RDPCDD service is using the RDPCDD.sys file that is located in the %WinDir%\System32\DRIVERS folder. If the file is changed, damaged or deleted, you can restore its original version from Windows XP installation media.
